Waited on the fog a bit, but headed out around 7:30. Picked up Apres Sail passing their anchorage. Foggier as we started down the Tenn-Tom, heavy but not maximum thick all the way to the canal. Lifted like magic at 9 am, as forecast. With doppler radar, multiple electronic charts and positioning devices, a fog horn, running lights, and the yellow-lensed fog glasses adding contrast we felt quite comfortable--not shared by our traveling companions.

Waited for Whitten Lock to lock up a tow, then for the tow's crew change, then to load 7 boats into the lock, and finally for the last one to signal the lock they were secure. About 2 hours. One of the boats jammed down the water to Montgomery Lock, just to wait for the rest of us. The same thing going to the next lock, where we heard some radio chatter about ignoring the red light. We turned off before Rankin to a lovely anchorage with a very near dinghy dock and park, well off the channel. Quiet night.
